Active Rainers in the News

As an Active Rainer, I am sure we have all found that many folks use an AR List as a marketing list.  It can be a little frustrating to get solicited when you are trying "to put yourself out there" in the online world.  I guess it is to be expected and comes with the territory.

On the bright side it makes it all that much sweeter to see AR used as a tool for News Sources to seek out AR's for expert market commentary.  Here is a link from a recent article from Matt Carter of InmanNews featuring several members of ActiveRain.  Lenders still finding ways to finance home purchases, refis

Have any other Active Rainers been contacted by the media as a result of being an active member?  If so, I'd like to hear about your experiences with the media.

Michael,

It's great for the network to get national media and other organizations to call on members for commentary. Inman recently contacted several of us for the article you provide the link for. Tomorrow it's someone else's turn. Bottom line is it benefits all of us.

Esko-Exactly!  The first question I asked was "How did you get my name?".  Activerain is a great resource for the media and helps us all.

Right on Rita.  With the media also seeing ActiveRain as a tool and using it as a reference, we all stand the benefit.

Hi, thanks for mentioning this article. When my office read this, and realized how extensively I was quoted, I got a standing ovation!

I'm not sure why he asked to interview me, but the original contact came from an e-mail with a broad range of topics. I replied that I only would comment on stated income loans for self employed borrowers (my niche). He called late one Friday afternoon to interview me.

This is a great reason to blog on ActiveRain!

Janet, exactly!  It is a great tool for a reporter to find different folks from around the country.

Michael

The media is our friend, if you want to get your message out to the masses. It amazes me that so many people are scared of being taken 'out of context', unless you're unclear as to your thoughts and beliefs.

I've done a fair amount of media now, and I'm always thinking of the consumer and the industry.

Bill- The media is our friend, and articles are free as well.  I actually was worried about being taken out of context, I must admit.  I did not want to make it sound like anyone with "X" credit score qualifies for a loan with "Y" down.  I mentioned this to Matt and he did a great job.

Bill - I was not interviwed on a real estate related issue yet. But the power of any media is incredible. Our local paper asked me some question years ago and my answer is still on Google for all to see. I thought I was just making an of the top of my head comment.
