UFC 90 Picks, Revisited

As usual, when I make my UFC picks, I am lucky to hit 50%.  Keep your day job is probably another thought that crosses one's mind.  Maybe it's a good thing no one reads this portion of my blog.  My hope is that there are some MMA fans with a need for Super Jumbo Mortgages in New York State or Staten Island, or want to peruse my Recent Blogs about Bi-Weekly Mortgages. Well it's time to review my recent picks and look at the real outcomes in italics, with the original picks first:

Main Event: Patrick Cote vs. Anderson Silva 185lb. Title.  Can Cote shock the world?  Considering Cote has losses to 2 previous victims of Anderson Silva, I think not.  Silva via TKO, Rd. 1.  Actual outcome: Silva TKO Rd. 3, due to a knee injury to Cote. I thought Cote really showed his mettle, but regardless of the injury had little for Silva except a great chin and heavy hands.

Josh Koschek vs. Thiago Alves, 170 lb. Bout.  For some reason I dislike guys(like Alves) who don't make weight.  I think Kos surprises and wins this one by KO in Round 1, faking a shot and throwing a power right hand. Alves via decision, 3 rds. Alves shows why he cuts so much weight: he nullified Kos's takedown attempts and destroyed Kos's legs with his muay thai skills. Kos was hurt in every round and showed tremendous heart.

Gray Maynard vs. Rich Clementi., 155 lb. Bout.  Maynard may be one of the toughest guys to have a tramp stamp.  Maynard grinds out a decision victory over a game Clementi, who just misses the chance at several subs. Well, this actually went as I predicted: Maynard by Decision.

Fabrcia Werdum vs. Dos Santos, Heavyweight Bout.  Werdum earns the right to challenge for a title with a sub in Rd. 2.    Dos Santos TKO, Rd. 1.  Werdum came in fat-256lbs when he has fought in the 230's previously.  Dos Santo trains with Anderson Silva, and it showed.

Sean Sherk vs. Tyson Griffin, 155 lb. bout.  Upset of the night.  Griffin drops Sherk with a well timed knee in the second rd, and follows up with a TKO victory. Sherk 3 rd Decision.  Sherk is a tough dude and grinded out a victory on sheer toughness, conditioning, and will over a game Tyson Griffin.

Watch a great undercard bout: look up the Dan Miller vs. Matt Horwich bout.

Bi-Weekly Mortgages Available in Virginia

Virginians, tired of seeing your mortgage balance staying the same?  One way to pay down a 30 Year Mortgage much more quickly is to opt for a Bi-Weekly mortgage payment.  Although results may vary, using a Bi-Weekly payment on a 30 Year Mortgage typically will pay off a 30 year mortgage in just under 24 years.  What people rarely tell is how and why this works.

The reason for this is simple math: there are 52 weeks in a year.  Now you have made 26 1/2 payments for the year.  Now look at the math: 26 times .5 = 13 total payments.  I have always told people that if they want to accelerate their mortgage payoff, that they could always make 1 extra payment per year to make some headway.  In my 18 years of looking at credit reports, I can count on 1 hand the number of people who have actually paid down their debt accordingly willing and of their own volition.

UFC 89 - My Picks

Well, UFC 89 will be underway in England tomorrw and will be broadcast free on Spike TV.  It will not be a live telecast due to time zones.  I probably will not be able to stay off of the internet before then, so I will make my predictions for the main fights now:

Michael Bisping vs. Chris Leben: Bisping via cut stoppage, 2nd round.  I have come to like Leben, but think he gets outclassed here by Bisping.

Brandon Vera vs. Keith Jardine: Vera takes this to the ground and subs Jardine in the 1st Rd.  Jardine's go for broke style is awesome in that he has wins over Liddell and Forrest Griffin(the lightheavy champ and ex-champ), yet is 2-2 in his last 4 UFC fights.

Sokoudjou vs Luiz Cane: Sok gets the Ko in Rd. 1 

Marcus Davis vs. Paul Kelly:  Davis takes this to the ground and gets a sub in rd. 2

 Akihiro Gono vs. Dan Hardy: Gono by sub Rd. 1

Shane Carwin vs. Neil Wain: Carwin by being a giant freak in Rd. 1

 

We'll see how it goes.  I am wrong more than right, so I adopted a new method of predicting: I just winged it.
